About Me
Stitching Dreams: My Life in Costume and Design
Hello, my name is Kym, and sewing has been my passion since childhood. For most of my life, it was an elaborate hobby: creating my own clothes, costumes for fancy dress parties, and the occasional home furnishing accessory. Along the way, I challenged myself with a variety of projects, always stretching my skills and creativity.
After having children, I was recommended for a role as a military tailor. It was here that I truly recognized the value of my skills. Working on high-profile projects, including the King’s Coronation, further honed my abilities and built my confidence.
I later took a position working in wardrobe for a local pantomime, and being surrounded by spectacular costumes and wigs, I instantly fell in love with theatrical design. Soon after, I left the military and established my own home studio. Since then, I’ve created costumes for pantomimes, burlesque shows, and even a transformation costume for national TV. I’ve also trained in hard cap wig making and have crafted several wigs for pantomime dames.
With a background in customer service, I pride myself on being approachable, collaborative, and professional, whilst bringing creativity and precision to every project.
Please feel free to reach out via email with any enquiries and I will be delighted to assist.
